Aims Culture And Ethos

Our Aims, ethos and culture

We want all our children to succeed by achieving their full potential. As part of this, our priority is to maintain a caring ethos in the school as only secure children will thrive. In this environment they learn to respect and value themselves and other people, and to work independently and in collaboration with others. Our school is also a place where children are challenged to go a bit further, to take responsibility, to learn from their mistakes and to foster a love of learning which remains with them into adulthood. This is our vision and our ideal.

Aims of the school:

  • To provide a safe, caring, happy ‘family’ atmosphere which supports both physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • To ensure pupils feel listened to and have their voice.
  • To encourage respect, understanding and empathy for each other.
  • To encourage independence, initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • To create a culture of co-operation and collaboration.
  • To provide a learning environment where each individual pupil can achieve to their highest potential in every aspect of development and develop a life-long love for learning.
  • To provide a comprehensive range of education and learning opportunities which place emphasis on the development of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills and provide the knowledge needed for life in our ever-changing world.
  • To link learning to the pupil’s environment and local culture and to make all pupils aware of the cultural traditions and identities represented in wales, the UK, Europe and the wider world.
